Operations

Operating models, transient and monthly parking, validation, occupancy, enforcement and operator agreements, explained. A Parkonomics glossary hub.

Once a facility opens, its value depends on how it is run. These terms describe the operating side of parking: the method of operation, the customers a facility serves and the products it sells them, the data that shows how well the spaces are used, and the agreements and insurance that sit behind the lane.

Good operations turn the same concrete into very different results. Two identical garages can produce very different income depending on how they mix monthly and transient customers, how they price and validate, and how well they measure occupancy.

The Parkonomics view

Operations is where parking stops being a building and becomes a business. The best operators manage occupancy, not just collections, because a space that is full at the right price is worth more than one that is merely full.
