PARCS and Technology

PARCS, LPR, gateless parking, mobile payment, guidance systems, automated parking and parking software, explained. A Parkonomics glossary hub.

Parking technology has moved from ticket spitters and gate arms to software, cameras and phones. These terms cover the systems that control access and collect revenue, the ways drivers now pay, the guidance systems that point them to open spaces, and the automated systems that park the car for them.

The common thread is data. License plates, payments and space counts now flow through cloud platforms, which makes contracts, data ownership and integration as important as the hardware itself.

The Parkonomics view

Buy parking technology for what it lets the operator decide, not for what it lets the vendor sell. Design the PARCS architecture around operational requirements and own the data, and the hardware becomes replaceable.
