Search engine optimization (SEO)

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of making a website or listing easier for search engines to find, understand, and rank, so it appears when people search for what it offers.

For parking, most searches are local and urgent: a driver looking for a garage near a stadium, a hospital, or an airport, often on a phone and often within the hour. That makes parking SEO less about articles and more about being correct in the places a driver looks first.

Where a parking facility gets found

  • The map listing. A business profile with accurate hours, rates, height clearance, payment options, and a map pin placed at the vehicle entrance rather than the building’s street address.
  • Aggregator listings. Reservation platforms rank in search for most event and airport queries, so a facility’s presence and inventory there often matters more than its own website. See aggregator.
  • The owner’s own pages. Rate pages written as text rather than posted as images, event parking pages published ahead of the event, and structured data that identifies the site as a parking facility (schema.org has a ParkingFacility type for this).

The Parkonomics view

Search visibility is now part of a parking facility’s revenue control. A garage that cannot be found at the moment of decision loses the transaction to one that can, regardless of which is closer or cheaper. Owners who treat listings, rates, and entrance locations as operational data, maintained with the same discipline as PARCS rate tables, capture demand that would otherwise default to the aggregators.
