Geofencing

Geofencing is the software boundary that defines where a vehicle or service may operate, park, load, or charge. In a parking facility:

CROSS THE LINE, SOMETHING HAPPENS geofence, a virtual boundary P session starts
A geofence is an invisible boundary drawn on a map. When a car or phone crosses it, software fires automatically: a parking session opens, a gate is authorized, a rate applies. It is what lets a lot charge and admit the right vehicles without a ticket, a gate, or a person. Illustrative.
  • Operating agreements can geofence robotaxi staging into designated facilities and out of contested curb.

Considerations

  • Geofences are policy expressed as code; they are only as good as the agreement behind them. The geofence is the new curb paint.
