Autonomous Valet Parking

Autonomous valet parking lets an L4-capable vehicle drop its passengers and park itself, directed by the facility to a waiting area, a charging space, and finally a stall. In a parking facility:

  • Vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) direction is technically feasible today but expensive; AI-based mapping is expected to bring costs down.
  • Self-parking vehicles free chargers by moving when charging completes, multiplying charger utilization.

Considerations

  • A standardized charging-inlet location would make automated connection far more practical. The garage becomes the driver.
