The connector is the device that attaches an EV to a charger port to transfer electricity. In North America the market is converging on NACS (the Tesla-originated standard) alongside the older CCS. In a parking facility:
- DCFC devices may carry both CCS and NACS connectors but typically charge one vehicle at a time.
- In Europe, drivers increasingly supply their own cable, eliminating connector theft from chargers.
Considerations
- Connector standards are still settling; contracts should anticipate retrofit. The connector is the handshake between facility and fleet, and it is still evolving.
